German Measles (Rubella)

This is normally a mild disease with a rash of small pink patches (2-3mm) which do not itch and cover the body, arms and lets. It is infectious from 2 days before the rash appears and until it disappears. Expectant mothers in the first 3 months of pregnancy who are not immune to rubella should be avoided, as the unborn baby can be affected.
